Monika Abel-Lazar was born in Munich, Germany. At early age she received violin lessons and attended the “Münchner Dommusik”, where she joined various choruses until 2009.
In 2011 the young soprano got accepted into the Bachelor-program at the University of Music Freiburg, where she studied with Prof. Dorothea Wirtz until 2015. She continued her studies with Prof. Ulrike Sonntag at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, and graduated in 2019 with the Master of Arts.
Monika Abel-Lazar is currently solving Postgraduate Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in the class of Prof. Elena Pankratova.
She attended masterclasses with Malcolm Walker, Thomas Seyboldt and Margreet Honig. During her studies she was a fellow at “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation”.
Since 2013 she is member of the Philharmonic Chorus in Munich, where she sang the Soprano-solo in G. Benjamins Dream of the song and in L. van Beethovens Chorfantasie. In 2017 she had her debut at the Staatsoper Stuttgart in G. Antoni Derungs opera Benjamin. In 2018 Monika Abel-Lazar joined the concert chorus of the Bavarian Radio Chorus in Munich.
